Greg Kirby 
Head Sailing Instructor
This will be Greg’s twelfth consecutive year participating in
the North Cove Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program. He started sailing
at North Cove in 1999 where he continued as an Instructor Trainee in
2003-2004, and later as a Junior Instructor in 2005.He also sailed at
Yale Corinthian Yacht Club in 2002 raced at Pettipaug Sailing Academy
in 2003 and 2004. Currently he participates in local races on his Laser
and in JY-15s with the Pilot’s Point Pirates Special Olympics
sailing team out of Pilots Point.
Greg received his Level 1 certification in US Sailing in 2006 and was
a Senior Sailing Instructor from 2006-2009. He received his Level 2
Small Boat Coaching certification from US Sailing in 2009, and 2011 will
be in his second year as Head Instructor.
He is also First Aid certified by Red Cross, CPR Professional Rescuer
certified by American Heart Association, and a licensed EMT in Massachusetts.
Greg will be a Senior at Boston College in Fall 2011. He is majoring
in Chemistry and part of the Pre-Medical Program hoping to attend Medical
School after graduation.

Emily Miller
Senior Sailing Instructor teaching the advanced-beginner class
This will be her tenth year participating in the North Cove Yacht Club
sailing program starting in 2000 as a student. She was a Junior Instructor
in 2006 and 2007, and after gaining her Level 1 certification became
a Senior Sailing Instructor in 2008.
This is her fourth year teaching at North Cove. She is level 1 certified by US sailing, along with First Aid and Adult, Child and Infant CPR certifications by the American Red Cross. Emily will be a Sophomore at Worcester Polytechnic Institute studying Computer Science in Fall 2011.
Thomas Jordan
Senior Sailing Instructor teaching the beginner class
Thomas started sailing as a student at North Cove in 2006 where he continued as a Junior Instructor in 2008-09.
This is Thomas' second year as a Senior Instructor. He looks forward to teaching the beginner class of 2011 and bringing music to the sailing sessions with his guitar!
Thomas will be a Senior at Old Lyme High School in Fall 2011. His other hobbies include Crew, Indoor Track, and, of course, his music!
Thomas is certified by US Sailing as a Level 1 Instructor and has Adult CPR and First Aid Certification through the American Red Cross.

Robert Devens
Senior Sailing Instructor teaching the intermediate class
Robert started sailing at Niantic Bay Yacht Club in 1998 through 2006. At Niantic Bay he team raced and sailed at many of the local regattas in Connecticut, Rhode Island, as well as Larchmont race week. He also volunteered at the club as a junior instructor for the summers of 2006 and 2007. In 2008 he worked as an instructor at Madison Beach Club.
This is Robert's first year instructing at North Cove. He received the US Sailing Safe Powerboat Handling and US Sailing Level One Instructor certifications in the spring of 2007. He also has First Aid and CPR certifications through the American Red Cross. Robert will be a junior at Roger Williams University studying construction management in the fall of 2011.
