Storm shutting down launch service

Notice: club launch service will be curtailed as the wind increases.

Make Storm Preparations Now!

On Sunday there will be 30 to 50 knot winds with waves on the Sound building to 8 foot. The storm also has a potential to linger for several days. The launch will be closed on Sunday, and the whalers and Achilles will be unavailable for use after 5pm tonight.  Members are advised to secure their boats today.

Additionally, there is a potential for flooding under the clubhouse and those who have boats stored there should remove them toward higher ground (for example: near the shed by the street).

Lobsterfest at NCYC

LOBSTER FEST

Come one, Come all,

Lobster Fest is only a week away. With tropical storm Hermine battling down on the coast this weekend, warm and sunny weather is bound to be forecast for the following weekend.

What better way than to spend it with friends enjoying great food? Even if you plan on hitting the water next weekend, the majority of you will be back by sometime Sunday afternoon. Make the Lobster Bake you final destination before the weekend comes to a close. The festivities don’t start until 3p.m. with lobster due to roll out by around 3:45 p.m., so even if you have to arrive late, you know know the food will still be warm by 4.

Can’t you just imagine cracking open a nice succulent lobster?  Liquid rolling down your chin; the juicy taste of late summer corn? The high quality cole slaw on your plate? A nice cold one in front of you? And friends all around you? Of course don’t forget the view, sure to be a sunset before you depart. Not many more of those left to come!

The whole lobster bake team is pulling out all the stops to make this an enjoyable, rip roaring event. Don’t delay any longer. There aren’t many NCYC events left for the season. Come partake of the last days of summer with your comrades

Who wants to cook on a beautiful  Sunday, when you can be by the water?

Reservations need to be made by Tuesday, Sept. 6th.  Friends welcomed and encouraged.

Email, call or text message that you are coming, quickly. Right now if you can.

Labor Day Cruise in doubt as Hurricane Hermine prepares a trip up the coast.

A category 1 hurricane will likely continue its path north toward Long Island Sound, potentially affecting our weather Sunday and Monday.

As a result, the Cruise to Watch Hill is doubtful.  Please contact the Fleet Captain with any questions.  More on the storm here: http://www.boatus.com/hurricanes/tracking.asp?storm=hermine&year=2016#.V8ljaGViCT8

Amazing turnout for Celebrate North Cove Day

The temps were high, the sun was out and the water was somewhat cool for Celebrate North Cove Day hosted by North Cove Yacht Club.

Estimates put attendance in the 70s who took advantage of the Club's fleet of Dyers, Optis, 420s, kayaks, windsurfers, SUP paddle boards and Hobie Cat.  Attendees mentioned they learned of the event online and others from the town billboards.

Many Junior Sailing students got to show off their newly learned skills to their parents and a few even got a ride in Dyer.  A lovely spread of lunch foods was enjoyed by all.

Thank you to all who attended and supported this fun event.
